This course develops engineering mathematics skills in matrix methods and linear systems, differential and integral calculus, multivariable differentiation and integration, optimization, and Fourier series. Students apply these methods to solve mathematical and engineering problems involving systems of equations, derivatives, integrals, area, volume, and periodic functions.

Test 1 50%

Review of matrices, elementary matrix operations, rank, linear dependence and independence of vectors, linear systems, inverse matrices, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, Cayley-Hamilton theorem, differentiation of standard, parametric and implicit functions, logarithmic and higher-order differentiation, Rolle’s and mean value theorems, Taylor and Maclaurin theorems, L'Hospital's rule, and maxima and minima.

Rubric
To analyze the understanding of the concepts of the students related to linear algebra and basic calculus

Test 2 50%

Limits and continuity, partial derivatives and total derivative, chain rule, Euler's theorem for homogeneous functions, maxima and minima for a function of two variables, and Lagrange method of multiplier.

Week 8 / 9

Rubric
Develop students' understanding of multivariable calculus and problem-solving skills for engineering and real-world applications.

Test 3 50%

Subjective test covering syllabus from CA1 and CA2

Week 11 / 12

Rubric
To test the subjective knowledge of the students and provide the opportunity to improve their CA performance in case of low marks or any missed CA
