This subject develops the fashion design process through user-centered briefs, research, trend forecasting, ideation, historical and cultural analysis, and design development. Students create and evaluate fashion concepts, materials, collections, design documentation, rendered presentations, and a professional digital portfolio.

Assignment 1 33.33%

Choose a central topic such as Futuristic India, Desi Streetwear, or Sustainable Summer. Create a brainstorming board containing 15-20 raw ideas represented through images, words, icons, and sketches. Develop a mind map with the central theme in the middle, at least five branches covering areas such as lifestyle, colors, fabrics, silhouettes, and emotions, and supporting images or quick sketches along each branch.

Rubric
To guide students from raw idea generation to a focused fashion theme using brainstorming and mind mapping.

Assignment 2 33.33%

Create a titled mood board using 6-8 images that communicate the chosen theme's mood or feeling. Develop a color board with 5-7 color swatches extracted from the mood board, labeling their names and emotional impact or usage. Create a fictional client profile with demographic and psychographic details and include 2-3 style reference images.

Rubric
To express the design theme's emotion and target client using mood boards, color boards, and client boards.

Assignment 3 33.33%

Create a swatch board containing 4-6 physical or digital fabric swatches suitable for the chosen theme. Label each swatch with its fabric name, texture and feel, and intended usage. Add two illustrations or flats showing garments that could be made from the selected fabrics.

To explore fabric types and build a tactile and visual base for future garment ideas.
