POL118 — Constitutional Government And Democracy In India

Students will be assigned a book related to the subject. They are expected to read the book thoroughly, identify its central arguments, key concepts, and theoretical perspectives, and prepare a critical book review. The review should include a brief summary of the book, an analysis of its major themes, an evaluation of the author's arguments, and the student's own critical reflections supported by relevant academic concepts. Students should also assess the book's strengths, limitations, and its relevance to the subject.

Rubric
Students will learn how to read and critically review a book by summarizing its content, analyzing its key themes, and evaluating its strengths and weaknesses.

Students are required to undertake one or a combination of project-based experiential learning activities that demonstrate the practical application of the concepts learned in the course. The project may include gamification initiatives, educational content creation, entrepreneurial or revenue-generating activities, participation in conferences, seminars, workshops, Model United Nations, youth parliaments, policy dialogues, social media awareness campaigns, blog writing, podcast or video production, event management, community outreach, policy advocacy, portfolio development, or other innovative academic or professional activities approved by the course instructor. Students must submit a concise project report outlining the objectives, activities undertaken, outcomes, and key learning experiences, along with relevant supporting evidence.

To provide students with opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge in practical contexts through experiential learning, thereby enhancing critical thinking, problem solving, and creativity.

Each student is required to deliver an individual presentation on a topic assigned by or approved by the course instructor. The presentation should highlight a clear understanding of the selected topic through the application of relevant concepts, theories, and contemporary examples. Students are expected to present their ideas in a logical, well-organized, and engaging manner, supported by appropriate academic sources and visual aids where applicable. Following the presentation, students may be required to respond to questions and participate in a brief discussion to demonstrate their analytical and communication skills.

To assess students' ability to communicate, demonstrate analytical thinking, and deliver a well-structured individual presentation based on course-related concepts.

Subjective test covering syllabus from CA1, CA2 and individual CA3.
