This course examines the history of India from prehistoric cultures through the Harappan civilization, the Vedic period, the rise of the Mahajanapadas, religious movements, the Mauryan Empire, and the Post-Mauryan Empire up to 300 CE. It covers developments in polity, society, economy, religion, art, architecture, and culture.
