This course covers the fundamental principles of genetics, including inheritance, allelic and gene interactions, chromosomal and cytoplasmic inheritance, chromosomal variations, mutations, bacterial genetics, sex determination, population genetics, and the use of model organisms in genetic analysis.

Best 2 of 3 CAs will be considered for evaluation.
Test 1 50%

CA assignment test will be based on the pattern of CSIR-NET. The test will be both MCQ based as well as subjective. Test of 30 marks (15 marks for MCQs based wherein one mark will be given for every question) and 15 Marks for subjective (10 marks long answer and 5 marks short answer)

Poster Presentation 50%

A group of students will be assigned with topics related to Genetics wherein the students will prepare a summarized poster presentation and present it as a group. The presentations will be evaluated for 3 criteria for 10 marks each.

To evaluate the students based on compilation and presentation skills via a well rehearsed Poster presentation

Test 2 50%

The assessment will consist of subjective/descriptive questions covering the entire syllabus (Units I–VI)
