The course covers the fundamental principles of biophysical and carbohydrate chemistry, the structure and functions of lipids and nucleic acids, amino acids and proteins, enzymes, vitamins and minerals, and fundamental metabolic reactions involved in energy production and biosynthesis of biomolecules.

Test 1 50%

A subjective test based upon units 1 and 2, consisting of questions in multiples of 10 or 5. The syllabus covers acid, base and buffers; carbohydrates; and lipids.

To evaluate the learning ability and subject understanding of students based upon subjective test.

Assignment - Review based 50%

Review 5–8 authentic scientific sources, including textbooks and review articles. Create one infographic in A3 size or as a single presentation slide using clear icons, illustrations, flowcharts, and minimal text; highlight key concepts, applications, and real-life relevance; include 3–5 recent references; and use tools such as Canva, BioRender, PowerPoint, Piktochart, Adobe Express, or Figma.

Rubric
To evaluate the learning ability and subject understanding of students based upon review activity.

Test 2 50%

A subjective test covering the syllabus from CA 1 and CA 2, based upon units 4 and 5, consisting of questions in multiples of 10 or 5. The syllabus covers amino acids and proteins, enzymes, vitamins and minerals.
