This course introduces the origin, development, nature, and key concepts of political theory, including the state, power, authority, liberty, equality, gender, rights, justice, democracy, citizenship, and civil society. It also examines recent debates and contemporary political issues such as economic growth, minority rights, environmental degradation, and protective discrimination.

Students will be presented with a hypothetical political situation and will be required to assume the roles of different political thinkers. Each student will represent a particular thinker and engage in a structured political dialogue or debate on the given issue.

Poster Presentation 33.33%

A poster presentation is an assignment in which students visually present a selected topic, concept, thinker, theory, or political issue in a concise and structured format. The poster should include the key arguments, major concepts, relevant examples, and critical analysis of the chosen topic. Students will present their posters to the class and explain the content, followed by questions and discussion.

To test the subject knowledge of the students and provide opportunity to improve their CA performance in case of low marks or any missed CA.

Assignment - Simulation based 33.33%

Students will be assessed through a written test designed to evaluate their understanding of key concepts, theories, thinkers, and themes covered in the course. The test will include questions that assess conceptual clarity, critical understanding, analytical ability, and the application of theoretical ideas to political issues.
