This course introduces fundamental concepts of microeconomics and macroeconomics, including demand and supply, production and costs, market structures, national income, consumption and investment, and inflation. It develops students' ability to analyse economic conditions, interpret business and macroeconomic data, and evaluate monetary and fiscal policy measures.

Assignment 50%

Students will analyze demand and supply conditions, production and cost structures, market competition, national income indicators, consumption and investment patterns, and the impact of inflation, followed by evidence-based economic and policy recommendations for improving business performance and promoting sustainable economic growth.

Rubric
Objective: To evaluate the economic performance of a selected Indian industry or business using microeconomic and macroeconomic concepts.

Assignment - Case based 50%

Students will analyse demand and supply conditions, production and cost structures, market competition, national income indicators, consumption and investment patterns, and inflationary impacts, followed by evidence-based economic and policy recommendations to improve business performance and economic stability.

Week 8 / 10

Rubric
To evaluate the economic performance of a selected Indian industry (e.g., FMCG, Automobile, Retail, Telecom, Food Processing, E-commerce, or EdTech) using microeconomic and macroeconomic concepts.

Test 50%

The objective of this assessment is to evaluate students' understanding and application of the fundamental concepts of economics covered in Units I–VI of ECO106: Introduction to Economics. Students are required to conduct a case-based analysis of a selected Indian industry or business by applying concepts of demand and supply, production and cost, market structures, national income, consumption and investment, and inflation. The assessment encourages students to interpret economic data, analyse business challenges, evaluate government economic policies, and propose practical recommendations for sustainable business growth and economic stability. The assignment aims to strengthen students' conceptual understanding, analytical thinking, data interpretation, and evidence-based decision-making skills. Time: 50 Minutes.

Rubric
Students will prepare a case-based analytical report covering Units I–VI of ECO106: Introduction to Economics. The report will assess the selected industry/business using microeconomic and macroeconomic concepts.
