To test the subject knowledge of the students. Biosafety: Introduction, Historical Background, Biological Safety Cabinets, Containment for Biohazards, Biosafety Levels, Biosafety Levels of Specific Microorganisms, Recommended Biosafety Levels for Infectious Agents and Infected Animals. Biosafety regulatory framework: Regulatory framework in India governing GMOs-recombinant, DNA advisory committee and (RDAC), Institutional biosafety committee (IBC), Genetic engineering approval committee (GEAC). Rubrics: Understanding problem: 05 marks; Basic principle: 05 marks; Content: 10 marks; Clarity of concept 05; Method/way used to answer the problem/question: 05 marks.

Analyzing the conceptual skills of the subject topics concerned
Students will be taken for a visit to polyhouse, LPU and they will be explained about the biosafety issues while handling the transgenic plants. After the visit the students will be evaluated based on the exposure they received at polyhouse. Rubrics: Understanding the importance of biosafety â 5 marks, Observation and summarizing the visit - 10 marks, Post-visit evaluation report - 15 marks.
